Plum is the easiest way for people to buy and own vacation homes together.
We have developed a process to help people buy vacation homes together and are now seeking an engineering leader who can translate this vision into an elegant, consumer friendly co-ownership platform. This Head of Engineering will join the founding team and have direct responsibility for developing and deploying our first offerings.
Work You’ll Do
- Build an elegant and simple consumer experience that makes it easy for groups of people to buy and own homes together. We’ve got a good head start.
- Design, recruit, and empower a diverse technical team.
- Get your hands dirty! In this first phase, expect to roll up your sleeves and do some coding, too!
- Define and deploy Plum’s technical stack and release process. Our initial product is hosted in AWS (RDS, ECS), w/ Postgres, Redis, Ruby on Rails… which you can expand on or eventually rewrite once we’ve proven the concept (but plan on coding in Rails for the time being).
- Engage Plum’s investors and advisors to collaborate on strategy and financing.
Qualifications
- Strong personalities with big hearts will do well here. We like really smart, very passionate people who will do what it takes to win, and who also volunteer in their communities and bring soup to co-workers when ill. #GoodNaturedAssKickers
- Real time in the saddle as a head of engineering. You’re going to be contributing heavily to the product strategy, and executing it by leading development teams. No artificial ‘minimum years of experience,’ but you will clearly have collaborated on, built and refined amazing consumer products. Extra credit for real estate or vacation experience!
- It’s hard to make something simple. We’ll want to see consumer products that you’ve produced that highlight your uncanny ability to root out unnecessary steps and replace them with elegant and frictionless user experiences.
- Leadership + Quant. The soft skills matter, and it’ll be important that you know how to read a room, inspire a struggling team member, and motivate a board. You can also solve problems and make your points with clear evidence, manifested in data.
You can be anywhere in US or Canada as long as you’re cool traveling a bit (we’re in Raleigh-Durham). This is a founding team role, and we’re in it to win it, so, yeah… full time and then some. We’re really keen on being an Equal (and equitable) Opportunity Employer.
